MSU Campus Birdwatching Championship 2025

Join us for a day of feathered fun and friendly competition as Spartans take to the trails and gardens of Michigan State University in search of our campus’s most elusive and beautiful birds!

Event Schedule

• 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM
  Check-In & Team Briefing
  Pick up your gear, meet your team, and review the rules.
• 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  Birdwatching Championship Hunt
  Explore designated zones across campus to spot and log bird species using the MSU Birdwatching App.
• 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
  Lunch & Bird Trivia
  Enjoy a light lunch and test your bird knowledge with fun trivia games.
• 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM
  Awards Ceremony
  Prizes awarded for:
  • Most species spotted
  • Rarest bird sighting
  • Best team name
  • Best bird photo

📝 Registration

• Open to MSU students, faculty, and staff
• Teams of 2–4 people

• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Water bottle
• Smartphone (for logging sightings)
• Binoculars (optional – some provided)
